Senior Payroll Analyst (LATAM)

About the role

World Fuel is looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst based in San José, Costa Rica, to support payroll operations across several countries in Latin America. The role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with local regulations, support for audits and controls, and close partnership with HR, Finance, Accounting and external payroll providers.

Key responsibilities

• Process payrolls across multiple LATAM countries accurately and on time.
• Maintain employee payroll data (compensation, taxes, pension, social security) in Workday and payroll vendor systems.
• Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate year-end tax reporting and statutory filings.
• Support expatriate payroll and partner with external tax providers.
• Manage payroll-related employee inquiries and resolve them promptly.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit and external vendors on payroll matters.
• Support payroll reconciliations, financial reporting and SOX controls, and support internal and external audits.
• Build working relationships with employee representatives and labor unions where applicable.
• Identify ways to improve payroll processes, controls and system efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
• 4+ years of payroll experience, including multi-country payroll support.
• Advanced English and Spanish; preferred experience with Mexico, Colombia and Argentina, or one of those with Costa Rica, Chile and Ecuador.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.

Required skills

• Preferred: international payroll experience and knowledge of SOX controls and payroll compliance.
• Preferred: experience with Workday, ADP Streamline, ADP Expert, Safeguard or similar payroll platforms.
• Preferred: experience supporting expatriate payroll programs.
