Senior Accounting Assistant

About the role

A finance team in Escazú, Costa Rica is looking for a responsible, organized and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Assistant. The position is full-time and 100% on-site, and the employer expects the candidate to live near Escazú.

Key responsibilities

• Record and review accounting entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
• Prepare and review account reconciliations (bank, vendor and balance sheet accounts)
• Support month-end close and the preparation of financial reports
• Ensure accounting records follow GAAP principles
• Review the work of junior team members and support their training
• Identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance completed, or currently pursuing a Licenciatura in Accounting
• At least 3 years of accounting experience
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• At least 90% English proficiency, stated as non-negotiable
• Must reside near Escazú and be available full-time and on-site

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Preferred: experience with month-end close, knowledge of accounting software, strong organization and attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
