HR Compliance Specialist (I-9 & Unemployment)

About the role

We are looking for an HR Compliance Specialist to join our team in Heredia, Costa Rica. The role focuses on U.S. Form I-9 verification and state unemployment claim management, ensuring strict adherence to federal and state regulations. You will work hybrid, spending 1–2 days per week on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Audit, verify, and resolve Form I-9 workflows and compliance inquiries via the HR ticketing system.
• Process and manage U.S. state unemployment claims directly through state agency portals.
• Conduct routine HR compliance audits and maintain data integrity for sensitive employee information.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leadership to address escalated compliance issues.

Required profile

• 1–2+ years of hands‑on experience in HR compliance, specifically with Form I-9.
• Direct experience managing U.S. unemployment claims through state portals.
• Proficiency with HR ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow or Workday.
• Advanced English proficiency (fluent written and verbal).
• High School Diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s in HR or Business is a plus.
