Automation Engineer – Medical Device Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated systems that boost efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in our medical device manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and coordinate new automation projects and improvements to existing manufacturing processes.
• Design and develop automated systems and software solutions.
• Coordinate projects with internal teams, external suppliers, and automation vendors.
• Monitor and control project budgets.
• Support installation and commissioning of new automation equipment.
• Troubleshoot automated systems and provide second‑level technical support to the Maintenance team.
• Prepare technical documentation, work instructions, and project reports.
• Partner with Quality on equipment and process qualification and validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
• Train personnel on proper use of automation equipment.
• Promote continuous improvement and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and GMP requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and translate complex technical concepts into clear action plans.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• PLC programming languages and software development.
• Reading and modifying electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of automation systems, tools, software, and technologies.
• Practical experience with pFMEA.
• CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
• Qualification and validation activities under FDA regulations.
