Staff Accountant – Fixed Asset & Free Zone Specialist

About the role

The company is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage fixed‑asset accounting and ensure compliance with Costa Rica’s Free Zone Regime. The role supports month‑end close, audit activities, and capital‑expenditure reporting while aligning with corporate policies and regulatory standards such as PROCOMER and J‑SOX.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, impairments and capitalizations in ERP systems for corporate and statutory reporting.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly capital‑expenditure reports and reconcile fixed‑asset subledger and construction‑in‑progress accounts.
• Run and validate depreciation calculations, lead physical inventories and submit data for PROCOMER audits.
• Coordinate asset transfers, prepare journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations, and support audit processes.
• Collaborate with project owners to monitor budgets, address variances and ensure compliance with internal policies, free‑zone regulations and J‑SOX requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field with an active CPI or CPA.
• At least two years of experience in fixed‑asset accounting, CapEx budgeting and project tracking, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rican tax legislation, PROCOMER compliance and US GAAP or international accounting standards.
• High accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
