Senior Program Manager – IT Portfolio (Alajuela, Costa Rica)

About the role

The Senior Program Manager will lead the delivery of a portfolio of strategic technology projects for Smith & Nephew in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure projects are executed efficiently, comply with enterprise IT standards, and generate the expected business benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Define, plan and oversee the program budget, timeline, resources and execution strategy in alignment with the IT roadmap.
• Lead a team of Project Managers, providing performance management, coaching and escalation support.
• Coordinate with Business Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Service Delivery Leaders and cross‑functional teams to secure funding, resources and stakeholder alignment.
• Manage program risks, issues and dependencies, and maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders.
• Develop financial models, business cases and value propositions for assigned programs.
• Ensure quality delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets, and drive continuous improvement of project methodologies.

• Proven experience managing large, complex technology programs or portfolios.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on delivering measurable results.
