Senior Accountant – Real Estate (QBO experience)

About the role

Howard Financial is looking for a Senior Accountant with deep real‑estate accounting expertise to manage the month‑end close and financial reporting for a portfolio of property and development entities. The role is hands‑on and requires independent ownership of multiple entity accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly close for several real‑estate entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate general‑ledger records across property and holding companies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Handle intercompany transactions, eliminations, and job‑costing/project accounting.
• Support investor, lender, and draw‑request reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with external CPAs, auditors, and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of overall accounting experience, including at least 2 years in real‑estate accounting.
• Previous experience at a Senior Accountant or Junior Controller level.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and a track record of meeting deadlines.
• Hands‑on experience with residential, commercial, or development accounting.

Required skills

• Strong experience with QuickBooks Online or other cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Ability to manage month‑end close independently.
• Solid understanding of real‑estate accounting fundamentals, job costing, and intercompany transactions.
