Planner II – Manufacturing Build Planner

About the role

The Planner II will develop and maintain detailed manufacturing build plans for existing and new products within Abbott's Structural Heart division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This role ensures production schedules meet service level and inventory targets while supporting new product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Define manufacturing build plans using ERP signals and inputs from Supply Review and S&OP meetings.
• Collaborate with Industrial Engineering for capacity assessments and integrate results into S&OP.
• Communicate production quantities, mix, and plan changes to Supply Planner Production, Purchasing, and other stakeholders.
• Manage backorders, prioritize, and provide status updates.
• Report plan attainment, hold operations accountable, and notify Finance of variances.
• Maintain inventory levels to meet service level objectives and finish‑goods targets.
• Conduct monthly excess, obsolete, and expiring inventory reviews.
• Support new product introduction activities to achieve launch dates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, STEM, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in production planning or a similar role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Advanced command of the English language.

Required skills

• ERP system functionality and MRP output interpretation.
• Understanding of purchasing and production principles.
• Strong analytical skills for inventory and capacity management.
