National Project Officer – AVR Operations

About the role

The National Project Officer (AVR Operations) will support the management of the Global Assisted Voluntary Return (GAVR) programme in Costa Rica. Reporting to the Head of Programs and the Protection Coordinator, the officer will ensure effective coordination with partners and smooth implementation of project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in overall management of the GAVR programme, including planning, monitoring and reporting.
• Liaise with governmental authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Work directly with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons and trafficking victims.
• Develop and maintain databases and interactive data‑sharing systems.
• Coordinate workflows, inventory and logistics, and oversee process and system compliance.
• Conduct risk management, compliance checks and data analysis for reporting purposes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in the same fields.
• Experience in liaising with government, international organisations and NGOs.
• Experience working with vulnerable migrant groups.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written); knowledge of Portuguese, Mandarin, Arabic, French or Russian is desirable.
