Graduate Substation Electrical Engineer (Power)

About the role

Ulteig is looking for a Graduate Engineer for its Substation Department. The graduate performs routine engineering tasks, creates drawings, calculations and designs under the supervision of an experienced engineer, and works on a hybrid basis in the office. Resumes must be submitted in English.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development and implementation of engineering systems related to substation design.
• Prepare substation drawings such as physical arrangements, sections and elevations, conduit and grounding layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams and material lists.
• Perform design calculations, develop technical sketches, prepare plans and carry out technical comparisons.
• Additional duties may include special projects, assisting colleagues and adapting to changing priorities.
• Work closely with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers, and communicate with clients.
• May take part in marketing, sales and business development activities within the assigned market.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited or equivalent).
• Successful completion of the FE exam or ability to obtain it within 1 year of hire.
• Engineering internship experience preferred; electrical power systems coursework preferred.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Legal authorization to work in Costa Rica.

• Preparation of plans, specifications and reports in line with sound engineering practice.
• Efficiency engineering in design selection and recommendations to improve quality.
