Financial and Credit Risk Management Consultant – Special Assets

About the role

The IDB Lab seeks a dynamic, results‑oriented consultant to support the management and resolution of its Special Assets portfolio. You will work within the Finance, Risk and People Division, reporting to the Division Chief.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze financial condition, credit risk and repayment capacity of distressed or underperforming portfolio clients.
• Conduct detailed financial and credit analysis, including review of statements, cash flows, debt capacity and liquidity.
• Assist the Senior Specialist in assessing restructuring, recovery and write‑off scenarios through quantitative analysis.
• Monitor client performance, compliance with restructuring terms and payment commitments.
• Prepare draft restructuring and write‑off memoranda, financial analyses and presentations for senior authorities.
• Participate in client meetings and field visits as needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date portfolio information and identify trends, risks and developments.
• Support the risk team in preparing portfolio analyses, dashboards and reporting materials.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, risk management or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in risk management applied to credit or equity operations in the LAC region.
• Fluent in Spanish and English (both written and spoken); French or Portuguese a plus.
• Citizenship or legal work permit for Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Peru or Uruguay.
• No close family members working at IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
