Expert Project Manager – Managed Device Services

About the role

HP's Managed Device Services (MDS) offers organizations end-to-end management of PCs and other endpoint devices, including DaaS, procurement, deployment, logistics, lifecycle management, support and analytics. This Expert Project Manager leads complex MDS customer transitions from contract signature through operational readiness and formal handover to steady-state delivery, turning contractual commitments and solution designs into executable plans. The role requires strong MDS and project management expertise, sound judgment and the ability to create accountability across customer, HP, supplier, partner, global and regional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead transitions from contract signature through validated readiness and handover, translating the Statement of Work and solution design into an integrated transition plan with phases, milestones, resources and readiness checkpoints.
• Plan and coordinate pilots, proofs of concept, user acceptance and process validation, and verify that owners, tools, processes and escalation paths are ready before closure.
• Manage phased, regional and global transitions, including formal handoffs or reengagement plans when work finishes at different times or is paused.
• Develop and maintain integrated schedules, drive delivery to approved scope, schedule, budget and quality, and adjust plans when conditions change.
• Establish governance with workstream, project, customer, leadership and executive forums, define decision rights and accountability, and maintain decisions, actions, issues and risks records.
• Serve as the primary customer-facing transition leader, communicating risks, trade-offs and recommendations in clear business language.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams (Pursuit, solution architecture, commercial operations, supply chain, ITSM, billing, support, partners, etc.) and clarify ownership and handoffs.
• Review and interpret SOWs, amendments, change orders and solution designs, assess proposed changes for impact on scope, schedule, cost and readiness, and route out-of-scope work through change control.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, change-control processes, the funded transition budget and project-management effort, and recommend pausing or rephasing work when needed.
• Maintain accurate project plans, schedules, governance records, readiness checklists, handover materials and lessons learned, and contribute reusable playbooks, templates and training.
• Represent regional needs in global process, tool, methodology and transformation initiatives, and coach other project managers.
