Data and Reporting Engineer

About the role

HP is hiring a Data and Reporting Engineer in Heredia. The role covers data collection procedures, including accurate and relevant data for AI / ML models and for Power BI reporting, extracting and analyzing data from primary and secondary databases. It also involves data cleansing and validation, root-cause analysis of data-related problems, and presenting merged data to management through a visualization layer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, analysis, coding, testing and integration of complex, secure and performant data solutions and models, including structured and unstructured data
• Review designs and project activities against architecture, security and quality guidelines, and give feedback to improve quality and reduce risk
• Provide data systems leadership and expertise to cross-organization projects and drive the integration of new technologies in the big data space
• Collaborate with the project team, represent the data engineering team on larger projects, and mentor less experienced staff
• Maintain data integrity by monitoring and mass-updating data changes, and coach business analytics users

Required profile

• Four-year or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Statistics/Mathematics or a related field, or commensurate experience
• Typically 7-10 years of experience, preferably in data analytics, data engineering, data modeling or a related field
• Preferred certifications in SQL, Python or similar programming languages

Required skills

• Data modeling, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, big data solutions and ETL development
• MS SQL Server development and DBA, Talend or SSIS for job flow control
• SQL programming and code tuning, Java, Python, Microsoft Azure, machine learning
