Director of Site Reliability Engineering

About the role

The Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a senior technical leader at Boston Consulting Group, responsible for embedding reliability, automation and operational excellence across the firm’s technology landscape. You will shape standards, build reusable platforms and drive a culture of automation‑first, measurable practices across both technical and non‑technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Identify systemic risks and failure modes across platforms, services and infrastructure and define engineering solutions to mitigate them.
• Design and deliver scalable, reusable CI/CD pipelines, Terraform modules and automation frameworks that can be adopted organization‑wide.
• Establish observability patterns, security guardrails and compliance controls directly in delivery pipelines.
• Lead cross‑domain initiatives covering cloud engineering, network operations, identity management, AI‑driven operations and automated data workflows.
• Enable less technical business units to adopt structured, governed ways of working through clear standards and engineering controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior SRE or reliability leader in large, complex environments.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to understand how services, networks, data flows and identity interact under failure conditions.
• Track record of driving organisational change toward automation, observability and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical practices into practical standards for diverse audiences.
