Senior Power BI & Azure Synapse Developer

About the role

Software Mind is looking for a Senior Power BI & Azure Synapse Developer in San José. The role combines data analytics and cloud infrastructure work, including IaC, databases, CI/CD and observability, and calls for senior-level experience with a high degree of autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform to automate and manage infrastructure across Azure and Cloudflare, ensuring consistent and scalable deployments.
• Oversee PostgreSQL DB operations and automate database-related tasks.
• Deploy and configure message queues to support efficient data processing and service communication.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Enforce RBAC and apply security best practices across the DevOps lifecycle.
• Implement and maintain monitoring and observability solutions to track performance, identify bottlenecks and keep systems healthy.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues quickly with minimal disruption.

Required profile

• Power BI (must-have): semantic models, DAX, report definitions as PBIP with .pbix deployment, incremental refresh, query folding and troubleshooting performance issues such as refresh/XMLA timeouts.
• Azure Synapse (must-have): notebooks, pipelines, triggers and workspace management, plus source-side query optimization.
• Strong SQL for data validation, transformation and troubleshooting.
• PowerShell scripting, with comfort across common modules such as Az and MicrosoftPowerBIMgmt.
• Familiarity with Azure Functions/function apps and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with Azure DevOps (work item tracking) and Git/GitHub (branching, pull requests).
• Senior-level experience preferred, with strong proficiency across the stack and the ability to work autonomously.
