Defense Analyst – Remote Contract ($90/hr)

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Defense Analyst to work remotely on a contract basis. The role focuses on developing taxonomies, frameworks, and evaluation tools that support military and humanitarian decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive taxonomies for military‑use and defense operations across varied conflict contexts.
• Create dual‑use triage frameworks to differentiate military and civilian technology applications.
• Define clear boundaries for prohibited assistance under International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
• Design conflict‑risk rubrics and scenario‑based evaluation tools for defense activities.
• Evaluate and refine policy‑relevant benchmarks for AI model testing in defense and humanitarian settings.
• Produce written and verbal analyses that articulate complex warfighting, targeting, and IHL concepts.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in military, defense analysis, or IHL.
• Advanced degree or equivalent operational experience in military science, security studies, international law, or related fields.
• Proven track record in warfighting, operational planning, targeting law, or humanitarian law application.
• Deep expertise in conflict ethics, IHL, and defense policy frameworks.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience in research, policy analysis, or advisory roles within military, governmental, legal, or think‑tank environments.
