Legal Assistant / Case Manager (Remote – Costa Rica)

About the role

The Ledger Law Firm is looking for a highly capable Legal Assistant / Case Manager to support its U.S.-based personal injury practice. This remote position, based in Costa Rica, will work closely with attorneys and senior case managers to move injury cases forward with urgency and care.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with clients about case status, treatment updates, and documents.
• Open, organize, and maintain personal injury case files.
• Request and follow up on medical records, police reports, insurance information, and other case‑related documents.
• Interact with medical providers, insurance adjusters, lienholders, and other third parties.
• Track client medical treatment and ensure client engagement.
• Provide pre‑litigation and litigation support to attorneys and case managers.
• Draft, review, and organize correspondence, case summaries, and internal notes.
• Maintain accurate case management records and update files consistently.
• Identify problems early and escalate urgent issues to senior staff.

Required profile

• Based in Costa Rica.
• Excellent written and spoken English (C1/C2 level preferred).
• Law degree, legal studies background, or prior legal experience.
• Experience with U.S. personal injury law, insurance claims, litigation, or medical records is a strong plus.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.

• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders (clients, providers, insurers).
