Data Engineering & Automation Intern (Full Stack Software Engineer)

About the role

Moody's is looking for a Data Engineering & Automation Intern, described as a Full Stack Software Engineer Intern, to join Core Data Workflows, a multidisciplinary team within Moody's Data Estate focused on modernizing operational work. The intern contributes to real-world projects across the full software development lifecycle, working on human-in-the-loop workflows, automations, system integrations and tailored applications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the development team to design, develop and maintain frontend and backend applications
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations between multiple systems
• Write clean, efficient and well-documented code
• Assist in troubleshooting and debugging issues
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new features
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, with an ideal graduation date of 2028
• Internship start date: March 2027
• Clear communicator with innovative thinking, creativity in solving complex problems and a commitment to continuous learning
• Interest in AI tools and responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use

Required skills

• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python, with knowledge of server-side frameworks such as Node.js, Flask or FastAPI and RESTful API design
• SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases, and familiarity with pip, uv or npm
• Basic understanding of Git for version control
• High-quality, maintainable code following software design best practices
• Preferred: cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), front-end with React, Docker, QA automation, test-driven development, system design, JSON and a project portfolio
