Data Engineer – Scalable Data Solutions

About the role

CRG Costa Rica is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and deliver scalable data solutions that power analytics, business intelligence, and AI initiatives. You will work in a high‑impact international project, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure data quality, reliability, and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable data pipelines using Databricks, Apache Spark, and cloud‑native services.
• Build and optimise metadata‑driven ETL/ELT processes and integrate data from multiple internal and external sources.
• Support AI/ML and advanced analytics by providing high‑quality, analytics‑ready datasets.
• Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and validation frameworks.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures, resolve production incidents, and optimise processing performance.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Create curated datasets for reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Provide technical mentorship and promote engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional Data Engineering experience.
• 3+ years hands‑on with Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Advanced SQL expertise, including complex transformations and query optimisation.
• Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions.
• Experience with distributed streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Hadoop, Spark Streaming).
• Familiarity with ETL orchestration tools (Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Informatica, Talend, IBM DataStage).
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and professional‑level English.
