About the role
The Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for a Cost Accountant II to join its finance team in San Jose, Costa Rica. The role will partner with business units to track, control, and record adjustments for demo inventory and goods in transit, while also supporting excess & obsolete, cost roll, and CMV processes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage tracking, reconciliation, and accounting for designated inventory categories, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and retirement.
- Lead periodic inventory reconciliations and support physical inventory counts.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory transactions during the monthly close.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support cost accounting processes such as excess & obsolete inventory, inventory valuation, and annual cost updates.
- Assist with data management and system updates across ERP platforms.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools; conduct ad‑hoc financial and operational analyses.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and other business partners on cost‑related initiatives.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
Required profile
- Advanced college degree related to accounting or 5 + years of relevant experience.
- B2+ level English proficiency.
- Experience in cost accounting and manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically SAP and JD Edwards.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
- PowerPoint.
- SAP Costing module.
- JD Edwards ERP.
