About the role
The Legal team of Inchcape Américas is looking for a Compliance Officer based in Uruca. You will design, implement and oversee the compliance programme for the insurance agency, ensuring adherence to Costa Rican AML/CTF regulations and related supervisory authorities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update the Compliance Manual and related policies, obtaining Board approval and reviewing annually.
- Prepare the annual compliance work plan and secure its endorsement by the Board.
- Apply and supervise Know‑Your‑Customer (KYC) procedures, including client onboarding, beneficiary identification and PEP screening.
- Monitor transactions continuously to detect unusual or unjustified activities.
- Analyse alerts and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (ROS) to the UIF‑ICD, as well as cash transaction reports above US$10,000.
- Act as the official liaison with SUGESE, UIF‑ICD and other regulatory bodies, responding to information requests and supervision processes.
- Design and deliver annual AML/CTF training programmes for staff, accredited agents, managers and committee members.
- Implement and keep current the risk‑assessment methodology for AML, approved by the Board.
- Provide semi‑annual compliance reports to the Board, highlighting findings and action plans.
Required profile
- University degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Proven experience in AML/CTF compliance, preferably within the insurance sector.
- Strong knowledge of Costa Rican legislation (Law 8204, CONASSIF, SUGESE, Law 8653) and reporting obligations.
- Ability to interact effectively with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and written communication skills in Spanish; English proficiency is a plus.
