ASIC Principal Design Engineer

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an ASIC Principal Design Engineer in Heredia, Costa Rica. The role is hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office. It is a senior position providing technical leadership for significant VLSI projects and programs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, develop, modify and evaluate VLSI components and hardware systems, including architecture, logic design and design verification through simulation software.
• Build physical implementations through multidimensional designs of complex integrated circuits, and test prototypes to enable production solutions.
• Direct support personnel in detailed design, testing and prototype fabrication.
• Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for VLSI design across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
• Contribute to defining industry standards and product features that become de facto standards.
• Review designs and projects for compliance with technology and development guidelines, and advise executive leadership and outsourced partners.
• Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to the selection of future technical leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in VLSI design, verification or implementation.
• History of innovation and technical leadership, with multiple patents, publications and technical presentations in VLSI or electronic/hardware component design.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering fundamentals, VLSI principles, digital logic and computer architecture.
• VLSI design, integrated circuitry, architectures and algorithms.
• Programming and scripting, hardware description languages, EDA tools and/or FPGA tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication in English and the local language.
