ASIC Design Engineer I

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an ASIC Design Engineer I in Heredia, Costa Rica. The role is hybrid, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer designs, verifies and implements VLSI components and hardware systems, working independently within an established framework with moderate supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Design portions of computer/server architecture and algorithms based on VLSI engineering principles and specifications.
• Design, simulate and test VLSI circuits, ensuring designs meet quality, schedule and cost goals.
• Determine architecture and logic design, and build physical implementations through multidimensional designs of complex integrated circuits.
• Analyze designs to establish operating data, run experimental tests and evaluate results for prototype and production solutions.
• Collaborate with management on design status, project progress and issue resolution.
• Work with other VLSI engineers and internal and outsourced partners on reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Mentor less experienced staff members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 0-4 years of experience in VLSI design, verification or implementation.
• Coursework in VLSI design or VLSI concepts.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, mastery of English and the local language.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering fundamentals, VLSI principles, digital logic and computer architecture.
• Hands-on experience designing VLSI components, integrated circuits, architectures and algorithms.
• Knowledge of a programming and scripting language, hardware description languages, electronic design automation (EDA) tools and/or FPGA tools.
