About the role

This three‑month consultancy supports the Resident Coordinator Office in Costa Rica by providing up‑to‑date, validated economic, fiscal, financial and social databases. Working under the direct supervision of the Economist Officer, the consultant will help produce analytical matrices, visualisations and technical inputs for the UN Country Analysis (UNCA) and the upcoming Cooperation Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, integrate, clean and validate economic, fiscal, financial and social datasets required for the country’s financial landscape analysis.
• Build and update analytical matrices, time‑series, strategic indicators and consolidated databases to monitor structural trends, territorial gaps and sectoral dynamics linked to the SDGs.
• Create advanced visualisations (charts, pivot tables, dashboards, executive presentations) to facilitate interpretation of results for strategic reports and stakeholder dialogues.
• Systematise and preliminarily analyse official source information for inputs on development financing, fiscal sustainability, public and private investment, and SDG financing gaps.
• Prepare analytical sections on financial landscape, human development trajectories, demographic and productive trends, ensuring methodological consistency and source traceability.
• Maintain and update data repositories, monitoring tools and dashboards related to the Cooperation Framework and UNCA process.
• Document technical assumptions, methodologies and analytical processes used in indicator construction and estimations.
• Perform other technical tasks related to economic analysis and data management as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or a related field.
• Ability to work under the direct supervision of the Economist Officer and deliver high‑quality analytical outputs.
