Accounts Payable Intern

About the role

Huntsman's intern program is designed for full-time university students and runs from February to November, with working hours of at least 24 and up to 40 hours per week depending on availability. As an Accounts Payable Intern, you will support business entities across the region under the guidance of the Accounts Payable Manager, helping with payment processing, account management, supplier and internal stakeholder support, project assistance and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Review payment proposals to ensure timely and accurate outgoing payments.
• Work with the Vendor Master Data team, purchasing or invoice processors to resolve payment errors.
• Support out-of-cycle payments and help prepare and review monthly account reconciliations.
• Manage vendor open items (VOI) and Goods Receipt No Invoice (GRNI) for assigned legal entities and follow up on outstanding items.
• Support suppliers and internal stakeholders on issues and escalations, and attend business meetings to observe and contribute.
• Help identify improvements and implement solutions, and support invoice processors and helpdesk agents.
• Maintain documentation accurately and comply with SOX and Internal Audit controls.

Required profile

• Full-time current student of Engineering, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field (preferably more than 75% of the career).
• Unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
• Office attendance in Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; extra days may be needed.
• B2+ English; Portuguese is a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office package and mid to advanced Excel.
• Very good analytical skills and teamwork mindset.
