Senior Python Engineer – Remote (Colombia & Costa Rica)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer to join a high‑impact team building a complex, data‑intensive platform. The role is fully remote, serving candidates in Colombia and Costa Rica, and focuses on designing, developing, and scaling backend services for large‑scale data processing, search, and event‑driven architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (3.10–3.12) and Flask.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs with Flask‑RESTX and Flask‑SQLAlchemy.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and manage migrations with Alembic.
• Integrate and maintain Elasticsearch for indexing and large‑scale search capabilities.
• Implement event‑driven architectures using Apache Kafka (producer/consumer patterns).
• Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes (EKS).
• Collaborate on infrastructure and deployment workflows using Helm and Argo CD (GitOps).
• Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues with Datadog and Sentry.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Python backend development, preferably with Flask.
• Solid understanding of SQLAlchemy and Alembic for ORM and migrations.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL schema design and performance tuning.
• Experience working with Elasticsearch for querying and indexing.
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka and event‑driven system patterns.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes (debugging pods, logs, deployments).
• Familiarity with core AWS services such as S3, EC2, and EKS.
