Associate Software Engineer

About the role

Moody's is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to help build and operate data acquisition and extraction pipelines that process unstructured data from public and regulatory sources. You will work in a collaborative, inclusive environment where curiosity and diverse perspectives are valued.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python or Java based workflows for ingesting and processing unstructured data.
• Enhance data acquisition pipelines under the guidance of senior engineers, following established design patterns.
• Assist in building ETL processes, API integrations, and basic web‑scraping solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, version control, and automated testing activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality using AI‑enabled tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles and ability to write clean, testable code.
• Quick learner with a willingness to ramp up on new domains, tools, and technologies.
• Effective communicator who can collaborate within a team environment.

Required skills

• Python (mandatory) and at least one of Java, C#, Go, C++, or Rust.
• Experience with HTML, PDF, XML, and basic data‑extraction techniques.
• Familiarity with APIs, web‑scraping, or ETL concepts.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization concepts.
• Knowledge of CI/CD fundamentals, Git version control, and automated testing.
• Basic awareness of AI, machine learning, or large language model concepts.
