Associate Software Engineer

About the role

Moody's is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join its Data Estate team in Heredia, Costa Rica. The role focuses on building and operating data acquisition and extraction pipelines that handle unstructured data from public and regulatory sources, while providing a solid foundation in production‑grade software engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and operate pipelines that ingest and process HTML, PDF and XML data.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in Python or Java, and contribute to code reviews.
• Implement data acquisition techniques such as API integration, basic web‑scraping and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.
• Support deployment workflows using CI/CD tools, version control (Git) and automated testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundation in software engineering with Python and at least one additional language (Java, C#, Go, C++, or Rust).
• Introductory experience with unstructured data formats and data acquisition methods.
• Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively and communicate technical ideas clearly.
