Manufacturing Engineering Section Leader

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Section Leader for its Structural Heart Division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. You will lead engineering teams to develop, validate, and continuously improve cost‑effective manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and prioritization for engineering projects, process validations, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain key performance indicators and allocate resources according to business needs.
• Oversee installation and validation of new or existing production lines, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Manage equipment lifecycle, including calibration, maintenance, repair, and data‑driven equipment selection.
• Conduct financial analysis, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and contribute to departmental budgeting.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering or cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of process and equipment validation, regulatory requirements, and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Ability to manage budgets, perform cost analysis, and drive financial performance.
• Excellent communication skills for training, performance management, and stakeholder collaboration.
