About the role

The IDB Lab Venture Capital Investments (VCI) unit seeks a dynamic, client‑oriented professional with strong analytical and financial skills to support the Investment Officer in debt operations. The role focuses on originating, screening, and managing venture debt opportunities that drive high‑impact growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and screen deal flow, building relationships with private‑sector stakeholders and Investment Officers across the region.
• Assess debt opportunities, conduct financial analysis, modeling, credit underwriting, market analysis, and draft investment concept notes and memoranda.
• Maintain internal records of debt opportunities and update IDB Lab’s systems throughout the sourcing and screening process.
• Prepare strategic documents and presentations on the loans portfolio, pipeline, and lead opportunities.
• Support Investment Officers in supervising debt positions and coordinate country reports with other IDB Lab units.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field; CFA highly valued.
• Minimum 5 years of transactional experience in debt operations within corporate banking, debt funds, or investment banks.
• Proven track record in financial analysis, modeling, and preparation of investment memoranda.
• Fluency in English and Spanish; Portuguese or French a plus.
• Citizenship of a 48‑member IDB country and eligibility to work without sponsorship.
