Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

About the role

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) investigates component quality problems caused by external suppliers. The role involves testing, process verification, engineering reviews, and cross‑functional collaboration to resolve quality issues.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Samtec’s voice to suppliers for change management, defective material, and product qualifications.
• Verify defects reported through the Quality Problem system, contain suspect material, and determine accountability.
• Lead root‑cause analysis using quality tools and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Engage suppliers to produce detailed 8D reports and ensure implementation of solutions.
• Ensure site compliance with Samtec’s QMS, support internal audits, and audit suppliers to ISO standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sourcing, and Quality to evaluate and onboard new suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science engineering or equivalent.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Experience with manufacturing processes used by Samtec or its suppliers.
• Willingness to travel to supplier sites and ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Required skills

• Fiber optics, cable extrusion, high‑data‑rate cable assemblies, precision RF.
• Injection molding, progressive stamping, plating.
• Automotive quality standards, 8D, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Why, SPC, FMEA, GR&R, Lean, DOE.
• Tolerance analysis, engineering design, data analysis.
