Spanish Teacher - Secondary

About the role

Blue Valley School, a private international school in San Jose, Costa Rica, is looking for a Spanish Teacher to deliver engaging Spanish language and literacy instruction to secondary students. The school serves students from Early Learning through Secondary and is part of Inspired Education Group, which runs 121 private schools across six continents.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons that inspire and challenge all students, following the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, and individualise and differentiate learning.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work with colleagues as an active member of the learning community, sharing best practice and supporting your own professional development.
• Take part in the school's co-curricular programme, from leading clubs to contributing to whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents and build strong partnerships around each child's progress.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for education and the ability to engage and motivate young people.
• In-depth expertise in Spanish and the ability to inspire students and support outstanding progress.
• Experience assessing student progress, giving targeted feedback and supporting performance in external assessments.
• Experience in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a focus on individual attention.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building positive relationships with families.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
• BA or equivalent with excellent academic credentials, ideally with evidence of post-graduate study.
