Software Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

Excel Nearshore is looking for a Manual Quality Assurance Analyst to join a leading U.S.-based services company. You will ensure high‑quality software releases by performing comprehensive manual testing and supporting the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from a fully remote location in Costa Rica.

Key responsibilities

• Perform manual testing of applications, system integrations, data feeds, and software enhancements.
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases, test plans, and test results using Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Identify, document, track, and retest software defects until resolution.
• Review business and functional requirements and develop thorough test scenarios.
• Support all SDLC phases, including intake, requirements analysis, testing, deployment, and production validation.
• Manage Azure DevOps work items such as user stories, tasks, defects, and project documentation.
• Coordinate software releases, production deployments, and post‑deployment validation activities.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, developers, vendors, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Create and maintain process documentation, testing evidence, implementation records, and release documentation.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of manual software testing experience in Agile or Waterfall environments.
• Strong experience creating and executing test cases, test plans, and documenting results.
• Hands‑on experience testing web applications, system integrations, APIs, data feeds, and enterprise applications.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps for test case management, work‑item tracking, and defect lifecycle management.
• Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies and software release processes.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Experience using AI agents (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or similar) to improve QA workflows.
