Software Engineer – Distributed Systems (Remote)

About the role

As a Software Engineer specializing in Distributed Systems, you will design and build the core architectures that power large‑scale, high‑performance computing environments. You will work remotely with a global team of top‑tier engineers, tackling challenges around latency, consistency and availability.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement distributed coordination and consensus protocols (e.g., Raft, Paxos, CRDTs) to manage global system state.
• Design highly available, fault‑tolerant services using advanced replication and partitioning strategies.
• Optimize inter‑node communication for high throughput and low latency.
• Develop self‑healing mechanisms and automated recovery processes.
• Define consistency models and solve concurrency challenges to ensure data integrity at scale.
• Simulate and test failure scenarios to evaluate and improve system performance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on systems programming.
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures and concurrency.
• Proven experience building fault‑tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
