Site Reliability Engineer (Hybrid – Costa Rica)

About the role

Progress is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our global team. This hybrid position combines remote work with on‑site collaboration at our Belen office in Costa Rica, focusing on the reliability, security, and performance of customer‑facing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure using modern cloud technologies.
• Develop and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively detect issues.
• Collaborate with software developers to improve system architecture and performance.
• Automate manual processes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to respond to critical incidents outside business hours.
• Document system configurations, processes, and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
• Docker and Kubernetes containerization/orchestration.
• Terraform or Ansible infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
• Networking principles and protocols.
• CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
