Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Moody's is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support scalable real‑time data pipelines, streaming applications, and APIs. You will work on cloud‑native distributed systems on AWS, leveraging Java and modern stream‑processing frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Java‑based ingestion pipelines, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Build and operate Apache Kafka‑driven data flows, integrating with reference datasets.
• Optimize MongoDB access and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch indexing and query pipelines.
• Make architecture decisions balancing scalability, reliability, performance, security, and cost.
• Write production‑ready code with comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on Java development experience, including real‑time data ingestion pipelines.
• Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud‑native systems on AWS.
• Strong knowledge of authentication/authorization standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across product, data, and architecture teams.

Required skills

• Java (Java 17 or later), OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns.
• Apache Flink or similar stream‑processing framework.
• Apache Kafka (delivery semantics, consumer design, troubleshooting).
• MongoDB, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch (data modelling, indexing, query optimization).
• AWS services, Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, CI/CD pipelines.
• Artificial intelligence concepts and responsible AI tool usage.
