Senior Project Accountant

About the role

Wind River's Global Project Accounting team is looking for a Senior Project Accountant who reports to the Manager, Project Accounting based in Costa Rica. The role contributes to the core of project accounting by improving project accounting systems and processes, supporting month-end close activities and other efficiency projects, while ensuring effective policy and controls. It suits someone with a solid operational and project accounting background who takes ownership of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end project accounting process for assigned service projects, including set-up, maintenance and regular review of progress, P&L performance and budgets
• Support month-end and quarter-end close, including revenue recognition, accrual calculations, reconciliations and variance analysis
• Contribute to revenue and contractor expense forecasts, manage project P&Ls for key projects and provide variance analysis with project managers
• Support project change management, complex project structures and operational challenges with project managers
• Assist with preparing, reviewing and monitoring variances against the Professional Services billing forecast, and ensure invoices are accurate, approved and sent on time
• Help maintain a control environment compliant with company policies and accounting standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field
• At least 5 years of progressive project accounting experience or related accounting or finance roles
• Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and work independently under supervision where required
• Excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills, with attention to detail
• Deep understanding of T&M, fixed fee and milestone-based professional service project structures

Required skills

• High proficiency with MS Excel
• Deep familiarity with Oracle (PA module) and PS automation tools is preferred
