Senior Packaging Engineer

About the role

The Packaging Engineering team designs, develops and tests packaging equipment and systems for medical devices and supplies. The Senior Packaging Engineer works in the Packaging Technology Center and leads the project management and implementation of several packaging initiatives, including packaging development, material and equipment validations, quality improvements and operational excellence projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead packaging validation activities, including material selection and process validations for equipment such as thermoform-fill-seal machines and heat sealers
• Identify, lead and implement package optimization projects
• Develop packaging systems for new product introductions
• Maintain organized and accurate documentation, including specifications, protocols, reports and procedures
• Organize and lead cross-functional team meetings to build consensus on packaging initiatives
• Support regulatory body audits

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of related work experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects of moderate complexity and maintain project commitments
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO, ASTM and ISTA standards and test methods
• Experience with flexible and rigid medical packaging systems
• Statistical analysis proficiency
