Production Supervisor I - Vascular Division

About the role

Abbott Vascular, part of Abbott, provides minimally invasive and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease. As Production Supervisor I, you will lead one or more production teams in the Costa Rica - Alajuela location, keeping standard production processes running so that safety, quality and production volumes are met. The role requires training in human resources/people skills, quality systems and manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise production teams, including personnel scheduling, evaluation of discipline, coaching, selection and training of staff.
• Support compliance routines for the production line against internal and external regulatory requirements (FDA, TUV, etc.) and report quality issues immediately, taking part in their investigation and resolution.
• Carry out the plans needed to meet production goals: productivity, schedule adherence, quality, cost and service, while keeping a safe environment.
• Own the production area, including monitoring its efficiency and compliance.
• Report production progress, achievements and issues daily, possibly through daily meetings with staff and peers, and interpret daily production metrics to keep processes compliant with standard procedures.

Required profile

• 80% completion of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Administration or a related field.
• 0-2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a medical device, pharmaceutical or electronics industry.
• Basic English level.
• Flexibility to work different shifts and areas is preferred; ability to lead and influence peers and other functions is preferred.
• Desirable: at least one medical-industry certification such as CQE, 6 Sigma Black Belt, Lean Coach or problem-solving techniques.
• Preferred: a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering, team-leading experience, and knowledge of Costa Rican labour laws.

Required skills

• Proficiency with manufacturing systems used to collect data and control or monitor processes, such as SFA, SAP, Kronos or similar.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO and quality systems (FDA, MDD).
