Senior Data Scientist – Generative AI & LLM Solutions

About the role

Cloudera is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design and deliver AI‑powered systems that accelerate decision‑making and enhance operational excellence. You will combine strong statistical foundations, advanced programming expertise, and modern Generative AI techniques to build scalable, production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy GenAI‑powered internal applications, copilots, and workflow accelerators.
• Build reusable AI components such as retrieval pipelines, structured prompting patterns, and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop and maintain statistical and machine‑learning models for automation, forecasting, and classification use cases.
• Partner cross‑functionally to identify high‑value AI enablement opportunities and create reusable datasets and feature pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI‑focused roles.
• Hands‑on experience building applications or workflows powered by large language models (LLMs).
• Strong curiosity for emerging AI technologies and a builder mindset demonstrated through shipped AI tools or platforms.
• Academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics.

Required skills

• Python (or R) for data preparation, feature engineering, and modeling.
• Core data‑science libraries: Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn.
• SQL for efficient data extraction and experimentation.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt design, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and evaluation strategies.
• Familiarity with modern development frameworks (e.g., Streamlit, Gradio, FastAPI).
• Version‑control proficiency (Git/GitHub) and collaborative notebook environments (Jupyter, Zeppelin).
