Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Teradyne, a global test and automation specialist, is hiring a Senior Data Platform Engineer in Costa Rica. You will build and operate the modern data platform used by the data engineering, governance, analytics and AI teams, reporting to the Enterprise Data Platform Engineering Manager. This is a platform enablement role focused on keeping the platform secure, reliable, cost-efficient and easy to adapt, rather than delivering data solutions on it.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and operate a secure, reliable multicloud data platform, primarily on Microsoft Azure, with Google Cloud and AWS as secondary platforms.
• Manage core services such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Informatica and Semarchy.
• Lead FinOps and cost optimization, including cost visibility, budgeting, forecasting and efficiency improvements.
• Build proactive monitoring, alerting, observability and incident response processes.
• Create onboarding playbooks, self-service capabilities, templates, guardrails and documentation.
• Support CI/CD, production migration, automation and standardized release workflows.
• Mentor engineers on platform engineering, FinOps and reliability best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in data platform, cloud platform or platform administration, with recent hands-on experience building and operating modern cloud data platforms.
• English proficiency.
• Ideal candidate shows the ability to mentor and upskill teams, strong collaboration and communication skills, and an analytical mindset focused on reliability, automation and cost efficiency.

Required skills

• SQL and Python for automation and platform operations.
• Multicloud administration, with Microsoft Azure as primary and Google Cloud and AWS as secondary.
• Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (OneLake, Data Factory, Real-Time Intelligence, Power BI).
• Snowflake, Informatica and Semarchy, or comparable tools.
• FinOps: cost management, tagging, budgeting, showback/chargeback and cloud cost tooling.
• Monitoring, alerting and observability (SLAs/SLOs, dashboards, incident response).
• DataOps/CI-CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), infrastructure- and configuration-as-code, RBAC and security controls.
• Experience with modern AI tooling such as Microsoft Copilot.
