Senior Buyer – Procurement & Supplier Management

About the role

Abbott’s Electrophysiology division in Alajuela, Costa Rica is seeking a Senior Buyer to ensure that all materials, services, and supplies are sourced competitively, with the right quality and quantity. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to support the company’s mission of advancing heart‑disease treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiations of long‑term contracts and build strong supplier partnerships.
• Coordinate purchasing activities and delivery schedules aligned with business demand.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance, driving corrective actions with quality teams.
• Analyze complex data to generate insights and optimize procurement processes.
• Identify and implement alternative supply sources that meet specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing or commodity management.
• Minimum 3 years using purchasing/commodity management software.
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed, geographically diverse environment.
• Strong independent and team‑oriented work ethic in a fast‑changing setting.
