Senior Buyer Planner

About the role

The Senior Buyer Planner will be responsible for production planning and procurement of materials for Abbott's Structural Heart Division. This role drives continuous improvement, supports new product introductions and ensures inventory targets and service levels are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the local Sales & Operations Planning process, analyzing forecasts, service level, inventory health and backorder indicators.
• Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventories, collaborating with forecasting, planning, commodity, and shipping teams.
• Review purchase requisitions, negotiate with vendors on price, availability and delivery, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Manage inventory levels, excess, obsolete and expiring stock, and drive zero‑backorder performance.
• Coordinate new product introductions, ensuring launch dates and target inventory while minimizing phase‑out obsolescence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing/commodity management, including at least 3 years in a senior role.
• Proven ability to work in a highly matrixed, geographically diverse environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence multiple organizational levels.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%, including international trips.
