Buyer III – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Buyer III to support its manufacturing operations in Costa Rica. The role requires a high degree of independence, sound judgment and proactive communication with a manager located in the United States. You will be responsible for ensuring reliable, efficient and cost‑effective supply‑chain performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier relationships, procurement activities and material requirements to guarantee timely availability of components.
• Analyze supply and demand data, monitor supplier performance and drive cost‑reduction, inventory optimisation and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance and other cross‑functional teams to resolve supply‑chain issues and support new‑product introductions.
• Utilise ERP/MRP systems to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives and make data‑driven decisions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree with 3 + years experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5 + years experience in procurement or supply‑chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, lead and coach team members, and manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with experience in supplier negotiation and performance improvement.
• Willingness to travel up to 15 % of the time.
