Senior Back End Engineer

About the role

Software Mind is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer to design and build backend services for a client’s e‑commerce platform. You will work on a distributed micro‑services architecture with event‑driven communication, applying clean‑architecture principles.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend micro‑services, ensuring clear separation of domain, application, infrastructure and API layers.
• Build and maintain REST and/or GraphQL APIs, define data contracts and ensure consistent request/response models.
• Implement event‑driven flows using message queues (e.g., AWS SQS/SNS), including webhook handling, retry and error logic.
• Design data models and persistence logic for NoSQL and relational databases, applying repository and unit‑of‑work patterns.
• Develop JWT‑based authentication and authorization, integrating with identity providers such as Keycloak.
• Write unit, integration and BDD tests and maintain test coverage.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and deploy containerised services on AWS ECS.
• Participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend services in C#/.NET or Java.
• Proven experience designing micro‑services and APIs (REST/GraphQL).
• Strong understanding of clean architecture or similar layered patterns.
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases, schema design and query optimisation.
• Hands‑on experience with event‑driven architectures and AWS SQS/SNS or equivalent.
• Ability to work in an agile team, communicate clearly and flag risks early.
