About the role
Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented, proactive accountant with real‑estate experience to join its back‑office team. Working as an independent contractor, you will deliver high‑quality reporting, reconciliations, and accounting support for multiple clients, helping them focus on their core business.
Key responsibilities
- Manage full‑cycle accounting for multiple real‑estate clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Prepare, review and analyse monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
- Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
- Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting with audit requests.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, providing insights to improve financial operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and internal controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, with proven real‑estate industry exposure.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
- Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate confidently with high‑profile clients.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
- Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday‑Friday.
