R&D Manager I – Sustaining

About the role

Join the Endoscopy Sustaining R&D team at Boston Scientific, where you will protect product quality, compliance and business continuity for a portfolio of commercial medical devices. You will lead a group of engineers at the Coyol manufacturing site, improving and optimizing released products, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring that Endoscopy technologies continue to meet the needs of patients, physicians and the business throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and approval for sustaining strategies and approaches.
• Identify and drive value‑improvement projects and complaint‑reduction initiatives.
• Mentor, train and develop engineering staff, supporting career growth and high‑performance hiring.
• Develop and monitor budgets, tools, systems and resource plans.
• Collaborate with project managers to prioritize the portfolio and allocate resources effectively.
• Assign staff to projects, schedule work and ensure timely delivery of R&D deliverables.
• Maintain and enhance cross‑functional relationships and resolve technical issues across the organization.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and build trust with direct reports.
• Strong leadership and cross‑functional decision‑making skills.
• Experience in sustaining R&D for medical devices, preferably endoscopy products.
• Demonstrated capability to prioritize project portfolios and develop talent.
