Payroll Tax Analyst – North America Shared Services

About the role

The Payroll Tax Analyst will support Roche's North America Shared Services organization by managing end‑to‑end payroll tax administration, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, and driving continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Execute U.S. payroll tax processing, maintain compliance with state/local tax laws, and manage tax filings and amendments.
• Respond to tax authority inquiries, handle tax audits, conduct risk assessments, and manage SUI rate and jurisdiction updates.
• Perform monthly and quarterly tax balancing across corporate entities and process severance repayments and employee over‑payment recoveries.
• Gather business requirements, design scalable process and system solutions, and participate in Workday system upgrade and W‑2 testing.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma and root‑cause analysis to eliminate bottlenecks, conduct data audits, and improve service delivery.
• Provide expert customer service via ServiceNow case management, handle W‑2/W‑2c requests, and communicate tax corrections.
• Develop and deliver training materials on new functionalities, processes, and guidelines.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field (experience may substitute for degree).
• Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, preferably within an HR Shared Services Center in a complex matrix organization.
