Microbiólogo/a – Regente de Laboratorio Clínico (San José Centro)

About the role

BV Labs, a growing Costa‑Rican clinical laboratory, is looking for a qualified Microbiologist/Clinical Chemist to lead its new site inside the Centro Médico Integral (CMI) next to Hospital Calderón Guardia in downtown San José. The professional will be responsible for both the technical and administrative daily operations and will act as the official laboratory regent before the Ministry of Health.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the laboratory regent for the Ministry of Health and the College of Microbiologists and Clinical Chemists.
• Perform phlebotomy and process routine clinical tests (hematology, blood chemistry, urinalysis, stool analysis, metabolic panels).
• Ensure compliance with bio‑security standards and proper handling of bio‑hazard waste.
• Supervise quality‑control procedures and guarantee timely, reliable reporting of results.
• Maintain effective communication with referring physicians to coordinate requests and delivery times.
• Manage inventory of reagents and laboratory supplies.
• Provide direct, high‑quality service to patients visiting the laboratory.

Required profile

• Degree in Microbiology and Clinical Chemistry.
• Active registration with the College of Microbiologists and Clinical Chemists of Costa Rica, with a current habilitation certificate.
• Willingness to act as the laboratory regent.
• 1‑2 years proven experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and bio‑security regulations.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent patient interaction and customer‑service skills.
