Maintenance Engineer I – Production Equipment Reliability

About the role

Baxter is seeking a Maintenance Engineer I to ensure the reliability and efficiency of production equipment at its Cartago facility. You will work within a collaborative engineering team to uphold quality, safety, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform predictive, preventive, corrective and reliability maintenance on plant equipment.
• Lead projects that improve machinery performance and reduce downtime.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, EHS, and other regulatory requirements.
• Manage maintenance budgets and coordinate human resources to support operational excellence.
• Investigate equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Technical background in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering.
• Experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of maintenance strategies and reliability engineering principles.
• Ability to supervise and train technical personnel.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
